WHO CLASSIFICATION OF TUMOURS OF THE EYE

The WHO Classification of Tumours of the Eye is the 12th and final volume inthe 4th edition of the WHO series on the classificationof human tumours. The series (alsoknown as the Blue Books) has long beenregarded by pathologists asthe gold standard for the diagnosis of tumours, andit is anindispensable guide for thedesign of evaluations,clinical trials, and studiesinvolving cancer. These authoritative and concise reference books provide an international standard for anyoneinvolved in cancer research or the care of cancer patients.

Diagnostic criteria, pathologicalfeatures, and genetic and other associated molecular alterations are described in a disease-oriented manner. This volumeupdates the existing ICD-O codes and provides new codes foruse in epidemiology and cancerregistration. It also provides informationon clinical features, pathology,genetics, prognosis, and protectivefactors for each of the tumour types covered.

The editors expect that this volumewill be of particular interestto pathologists, oncologists, and ophthalmologistswho manage or research tumoursof the eye.
