Dr. Paul S. Auerbach, FACEP, FAWM, is the RedlichFamily Professor of Surgery in the Division of Emergency Medicine at StanfordUniversity School of Medicine. He is the world's leading expert on wildernessmedicine and a prolific author. He is the Editorof Wilderness Medicine, and author of Medicine for theOutdoors and Field Guide to Wilderness Medicine. Dr. Auerbachholds his MD from Duke and completed hisinternship atDartmouth andresidency at UCLA. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.He has been recognized as a Hero of Emergency Medicine by the American Collegeof EmergencyPhysicians and received the New OrleansGrand Isle Award for Science from the Academyof Underwater Arts and Sciences, theFounders Award from the Wilderness Medical Society, and the OutstandingContributionin Education Award from the AmericanCollege of EmergencyPhysicians, among others.
